Install Android 4.4 KitKat On A Samsung Galaxy S II Sky Rocket

Samsung Galaxy S II Sky Rocket is currently running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and no plans have been announced to update it further. If you want to get Android KitKat on a Galaxy S II Sky Rocket, you are going to need to use a custom ROM.

CyanogenMod 11 is a custom ROM based on Android 4.4 KitKat that can work on a Galaxy S II Sky Rocket. If you want to get a taste of KitKat on your device, you can use this ROM. However, this is not a ROM for everyday use so we recommend you flash it only if you’re familiar with custom ROMs.

Your phone needs to be rooted and have CWM custom recovery installed.
Use CWM to backup your current ROM.
Have and EFS backup made.
Use Titanium backup on your apps with data and system data.

Install Android 4.4 CM 11 Custom ROM on Galaxy S II Sky Rocket:

Install a Compatible Radio first:
Download one of the following:
- Radio for AT&T (Skyrocket) SGH-I727: UCMC1
- Radio for Rogers (Skyrocket) SGH-I727R: UXUMA7

Place the radio file you downloaded on the SD card of your phone.
